biographical information about the performers and a schedule of events.
KENT FOSS is an active trumpet performer and educator in the Phoenix
metropolitan area. Recent performance highlights include two European
tours as featured trumpet soloist with the Midwest Ambassadors of Music, a
summer spent at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as principal trumpet
of the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute Orchestra, and
numerous solo performances throughout the Midwest and Desert Southwest. In
the Phoenix area Kent performs as extra/substitute with the Phoenix
Symphony Orchestra, and also performs regularly with the Arizona Broadway
Theatre Orchestra, Ballet Arizona, Arizona Lyric Opera Theater and the
Salt River Brass Band.
In addition to serving on the music faculty at Chandler-Gilbert Community
College in Gilbert, Arizona, Kent Foss is currently completing work toward
the Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance degree at Arizona State
University where he is a graduate teaching assistant under Regents'
Professor David Hickman. He holds a Master of Music degree from Arizona
State University and a Bachelors of Music Education degree from South
Dakota State University. Kent’s students regularly participate in the
Arizona All-State Band, Arizona All-State Jazz Band, Phoenix Youth
Orchestra, and have been accepted to the internationally known Interlochen
Center for the Arts.
Known for his unique musical versatility, Wyoming native MICHAEL YENNY
maintains an active schedule as concert pianist, collaborative pianist,
composer, arranger, and church musician. Dr. Yenny has recently been
appointed as staff accompanist at Angelo State University in San Angelo,
Texas. He is also a faculty member of the New England Music Camp in
Sidney, Maine, the South Dakota All-State Music Camp in Brookings, SD, and
the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp in Powell, Wyoming.
Dr. Yenny’s creative activity includes over one-hundred original major
works/opuses comprising solo, pedagogical, and collaborative genres, in
addition to an equivocal number of professional arrangements of both
secular and religious piano music. Winner of the 2002 South Dakota Music
Teachers Association Collegiate Piano Competition, Michael Yenny holds the
Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,
Master of Music degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and
Bachelors of Music Education degree from South Dakota State University.
